Are you new to woodturning?  Now is your chance to get the hands-on instruction you need to turn wood bowls on the lathe.  This two-evening introduction course will give you the experience you need to safely turn beautiful wood bowls on the lathe.

All materials and equipment will be provided on-site.  You need only bring yourself and a willingness to learn the art of Woodturning!

This evening class will be held 6pm-9pm in two sessions and is available to active club members only.

Session 1 - March 7th starting 6:00pm

Each attendee will be assigned their own lathe to use throughout the course.  You will begin your introduction to woodturning with a tour of the lathe, it's main components and the primary tools used by woodturners.  You will then begin basic woodturning practice work that reinforces proper tool and body control.  Safety will emphasized throughout the lesson as you learn to rough-turn a spindle piece of wood, create beads, turn coves and develop the basic mechanics of tool control.

Session 2 - March 9th starting 6:00pm
Each attendee will be provided a quality pre-cut wood bowl blank.  You will be instructed on the proper and safe mounting of blank, how to shape the outside, how to hollow the inside and basic finishing techniques to create an attractive piece of wood art.  At the completion of the course, your wood bowl is yours to take home with you.
